HEDGE SCHOOL was the name given to the informal, illegal schools for Irish children who were given a basic education in the 17th century by poets and priests as a result of their exclusion from any education by the British, then occupying Ireland. These schools were often held in hedges to avoid detection, hence the name.

HEDGE SCHOOL is a five-piece Celtic Rock band from Dublin, Ireland. Thier unique sound has attracted considerable attention from many well-known artists, including Def Leppard's Joe Elliot and Thin Lizzy's Brian Downy, who have rated the band's performance as "second to none".
